The Trent Rockets are facing the London Spirit in the 20th match of The Hundred 2024 at the Trent Bridge in Nottingham. The Rockets won the toss in the game and opted to bat first. 

Banton and Hales steady the innings for the Rockets

The Trent Rockets did not have a great start to their innings as Adam Lyth was dismissed early when the team's score was just 4. After this Alex Hales joined Tom Banton in the middle and steadied the ship for the Rockets. The duo stitched together a partnership of 69 runs from 46 balls and set the Rockets on the way towards a formidable total. 

The patrnership between Hales and Banton was broken in the 10th set when Liam Dawson accounted for the later. However, this did not hinder Hales, as he continued to prosper from one end. Joe Root joined him another fifty plus patrnership and ensured that the Rockets took their total nearly out of the Spirit's reach.

Alex Hales's knock came to an end in the in the 17th set of the innings when the keeper Michael Pepper put in a brilliant effort behind the stumps. But before walking out he had already played a brilliant hand of 68 runs from 42 deliveries. His knock was decorated by three fours and five beautiful sixes. 

The effort from Hales powered the Rockets to a formidable total of 166/4 at the end of their 100 balls. It was a record that needed a lot of doing by the Spirit and which they failed in. The Spirit put in a valiant effort and could only mannage 144 before being bundled out in the 20th set and losing the game by 22 runs.
