The Emerging Asia Cup 2024 is done and dusted and Afghanistan A have outplayed favourites like India A, Pakistan A and Sri Lanka A to win the trophy this time around. The win shows the progress Afghanistan has made as a cricketing nation and after beating Sri Lanka A in the final, the excitement in their camp was something to behold.

They won the game by seven wickets, chasing a modest target of 134 and the winning shot came off the bat of Mohammad Ishaq, who flicked a length delivery off his pads into the square leg fence on the first delivery of the 19th over. As soon as the ball crossed the ropes, Afghanistan players ran towards the ground in delight, hugging both the batters on the field and bringing out a roar of joy with great passion.

Afghanistan Cricket Reaches New Heights

There were congratulatory hugs and handshakes all around and Afghanistan fans in the crowd were also overjoyed, waving their flags with great pride. Some shades of tears of joy were also evident and it was indeed a moment of great pride for all Afghan people who have faced lot of adversities in recent past.

Sediqullah Atal Leads The Chase

Darwish Rasooli is the man who led them in the tournament, but Sediqullah Atal emerged as a hero, scoring 50-plus in every game. In the final too, he guided a tricky chase to perfection, hitting run-a-ball unbeaten 55 after Sri Lanka managed just 133 while batting first. These are great signs for Afghanistan cricket as their senior team recently also qualifed for the semis of T20 World Cup and would be playing their first edition of Champions Trophy in 2025. Afghanistan cricket surely is moving towards a brighter future.
