Mumbai Indians are ready to face-off their arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings. The one of the highly anticipated clash will take place the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, March 23.
The five-time IPL champions, MI, are looking for redemption after a disastrous last season, where they finished at the bottom of the table with just four wins from 14 matches.
This time, MI has strengthened its squad by adding top-tier players like Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Will Jacks, and Ryan Rickelton. However, they will be without their regular skipper Hardik Pandya and pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, at least for the first few games. Suryakumar Yadav will take over the captaincy in Pandya's absence.
Explosive Opening Pair: Rohit Sharma & Will Jacks
MI's opening pair is expected to be the experienced Rohit Sharma and England’s dynamic batsman Will Jacks. Rohit, a seasoned campaigner, has played 257 IPL matches, scoring 6,628 runs at a strike rate of 131.14. Meanwhile, Jacks, known for his aggressive approach, will look to provide quick runs in the powerplay.

Tilak Varma will bat at No. 3, a crucial position where he has the ability to build innings and stabilize the team if early wickets fall. He is known for his calm presence and spin-handling abilities, which will be useful on the spin-friendly Chennai track.
Suryakumar Yadav, the newly appointed MI captain, will slot in at No. 4. He has been one of Mumbai’s most consistent batters, amassing 994 runs in 32 innings with one century and seven fifties. His unorthodox stroke play makes him a key player in this match.
New Middle Order Faces: Naman Dhir, Robin Minz & Mitchell Santner
At No. 5, MI will likely field Naman Dhir, who impressed in the last season with 140 runs at a blistering strike rate of 177.21. His ability to hit big from the start makes him a dangerous lower-middle-order batter.

Robin Minz is expected to make his IPL debut and will take up wicketkeeping duties at No. 6. A promising young player, Minz will be eager to showcase his talent on the big stage.
Mitchell Santner, a key all-rounder, will bat at No. 7. The New Zealand spinner has a solid T20 record, scoring 2,335 runs in 213 innings at an average of 30.37. More importantly, he has taken 216 wickets in 207 innings, and with the Chennai pitch favoring spinners, he could play a crucial role with the ball.
Karn Sharma will be MI’s primary spin weapon, assisting Santner in exploiting the turning track.
Trent Boult, one of the best new-ball bowlers, will lead the pace attack, providing early breakthroughs. On the other hand, Corbin Bosch adds versatility to the attack, contributing both with the ball and bat when needed.
Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar, who previously played for CSK, knows the Chennai pitch well. In 19 matches at MA Chidambaram Stadium, he has taken 23 wickets at an economy of 8.26.
