The 8th match of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 will see Gujarat Giants Women going head-to-head against UP Warriorz on Friday, March 1, at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. 

Following a challenging start, UP Warriorz orchestrated a remarkable turnaround, dismantling the defending champions, Mumbai Indians, with a convincing seven-wicket win in their most recent match.  

They chased down the 162-run target in just 16.3 overs, and now they have a reason to stick with their current playing 11 and maintain their core strategy going into this game. 

The strategic move of promoting Kiran Navgire to the opening position paid off handsomely as she recorded the fastest half-century of the season in the recent match. 

UP Warriorz are intent on having her open for the remainder of the season, forming a formidable partnership with captain Alyssa Healy. 

Even though all-rounder Tahlia McGrath hasn't yet showcased her batting prowess, the team is committed to her, recognising her explosive capabilities and wealth of experience. 

She will maintain her spot in the middle order, partnering with the dynamic Australian batter Grace Harris, who was instrumental in UP Warriors' triumph over MI. 

UP Warriorz implemented another strategic move by elevating vice-captain Deepti Sharma up the batting order, and she proved her mettle with a solid performance in the last match. She will maintain her position at number five for the upcoming game. 

Vrinda Dinesh, Shweta Sehrawat, and Poonam Kheman are set to form the lower-order batting lineup, demonstrating the considerable batting strength of the UP Warriorz. 

Anjali Sarvani will spearhead the pace attack, supported by Tahlia McGrath, while Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Grace Harris and Sophie Ecclestone will take charge of the spin duties.
