Perth Scorchers captain Aaron Hardie crafted a handy 32 after he won the toss and opted to bat first against Sydney Sixers in match number 39 of the ongoing BBL 2023-24 season. His innings, coupled with Cooper Connolly’s explosive 18-ball 37* and Laurie Evans’ 72-run blitz elevated the Scorchers to a competitive 197-4 from their 20 overs.

Notably, Hardie was involved in a heated verbal exchange with Sydney Sixers seamer Ben Dwarshuis after he was dismissed in the 16th over of the Scorchers innings.

Leading Perth Scorchers in their must-win BBL 2023-24 game against Sydney Sixers at the Perth Stadium, captain Aaron Hardie bludgeoned three boundaries in his fluent 32-run knock. The star Australian all-rounder also led his team’s recovery by sharing an attacking 85-run partnership with half-centurion Laurie Evans.

After Ben Dwarshuis dismissed Hardie in the 16th over of the Perth Scorchers innings, the cricketer coped with a few words from the Sydney Sixers’ speedster. The Scorchers captain also seemingly responded as the two were in a brief heated exchange.

Aaron Hardie’s 32 and Laurie Evans’ 72-run hurricane rushed Perth Scorchers to a colossal 197-4 from their 20 overs. Sydney Sixers fast bowler Ben Dwarshuis unfurled the spell of the high-scoring innings as he conceded just 23 runs from his end, all while accounting for two Scorchers wickets.

Later in the run-chase, Sydney Sixers overhauled their 198-run target off the last ball, courtesy of opener Daniel Hughes’ 43-ball 74 and captain Moises Henriques’ unbeaten 20-ball 47.

Hardie himself bowled the last over of the run-chase, where he failed to defend 13 runs from the final six balls of the match. He eventually finished with impressive figures of 2-32 off his four overs.
