Laurie Evans has been in breathtaking form in the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL), and the 36-year-old lived up to the hype just when the Perth Scorchers required the most on Tuesday in a super-important clash against the Sydney Sixers.

Evans took only 22 balls to get to a blistering half-century, of which 28 came off the last six balls. To make it more significant, it all came in a single over, bowled by Hayden Kerr.

After getting a flying start, the Scorchers took the ‘Power Surge’ before the beginning of the 12th over of the innings. They could only score 13 off the first over, bowled by Sean Abbott, and hence had to maximise the final over of the phase.

Evans took the responsibility and made Kerr, the left-arm quick, look like a bunny. He began with a four, followed by back-to-back sixes, before finishing things off with a hat-trick of fours.

With a place in the Qualifier 1 on the line, the Scorchers are in control against the Sixers at Optus Stadium, Perth. As of now, the Scorchers have reahed 174/3, with Evans batting on 72* off 33 balls.
