Somerset and Gloucestershire faced off in the final of the T20 Blast 2024, which was hosted at the Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Lewis Gregory fought a lone battle for Somerset

Gloucestershire won the toss and put Somerset to bat in the game. While most of the top-order batters failed to show any resilience, Lewis Gregory stood up for the team. He scored a brilliant 53 off 37 deliveries and fought the battle for the team. 

Powered by some brilliant bowling, Gloucestershire bundled out Somerset for 124 in the last over of the innings. David Payne was the star for Gloucestershire as he picked up three wickets for 27 runs from his four overs. 

Oliver Price finished off in style for Gloucestershire

It was a moderate total to chase down, and Gloucestershire treated the total precisely like that. Miles Hammond and Cameron Bancroft's openers scored their respective half-centuries and got off the chase to a brilliant start. The opening partnership of 112 runs in 13.1 overs finished off the game as a competition, even though they lost a couple of wickets. 

Oliver finished off the game in the 15th over of the innings with a maximum of Jake Ball. Price's six marked the first title win for Gloucestershire in 22 years. 

For Indian cricket fans, a six symbolising a trophy win might remind them of the ODI World Cup 2011. The then-Indian skipper, MS Dhoni, managed to finish off the final against Sri Lanka with a maximum.
