The St. Lucia Kings and the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots are playing against each other in the 14th match of the CPL 2024 at the Darem Sammy Stadium in St. Lucia, Gros Islet. The home team, Kings are chasing 174 in the game after Faf du Plessis won the toss and put the Patriots into bat.

Fletcher and Lewis laid a solid foundation for the Patriots

The Patriots made a solid start to their innings, with their openers Andre Fletcher and Evin Lewis gaining early momentum. However, with the departure of Evin Lewis after the first powerplay, they started to lose their way. Even though Andre Fletcher stayed in the middle, he failed to get off the block. While Fletcher was struggling at one end, the other batters were also troubled by the relentless and brilliant bowling of the Kings.

Fletcher played a mixed-bag innings and scored 62 off 50 deliveries. However, the South African batter Rilee Rossouw took it upon himself to significantly increase the team's scoring rate. The southpaw scored 50 runs off 31 deliveries and was pivotal in propelling the team past the 170 mark.

Faf du Plessis and Johnson Charles gave a blazing start to the Kings

The Kings needed a good start to chase down the score successfully, and that is exactly what their openers, Johnson Charles and Faf du Plessis, provided. The two openers looked in great touch, and they attacked the bowlers from the very first ball of the innings.

Faf du Plessis was particularly severe on the left-arm orthodox spinner Veerasammy Permaul of the Patriots. The former South African international slammed the spinner for two huge maximums during the fourth over of the innings. Du Plessis's batting entertained the crowd, and they did not shy away from expressing their happiness during the home team's brilliant show.

At the time of writing the opening pair of the Kings is still going strong. They have put 106 runs on the board in just 9 overs.
