The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots are up against the St Lucia Kings in the 14th match of the CPL 2024. This match is being played at the Daren Sammy Stadium in Gros Islet, St. Lucia.

Faf du Plessis, the captain of the St Lucia Kings, won the toss and opted to field first before the game. The two openers of the Patriots, Andre Fletcher and Evin Lewis, got them off to a solid start. The duo had stitched a partnership of 50 within the powerplay.

Patriots struggled to get going even after a good start

However, as the powerplay ended, the Patriots started losing momentum in their innings. Even though the skipper, Andre Fletcher, found his way to a half-century, it was not as smooth an inning as the team management and the batter himself would have expected. He struggled against the clever bowling of the St Lucia bowlers and struggled to put his foot on the pedal.

While Fletcher struggled at one end, the batters at the other did not help much. The stagnancy in the progress of the innings forced Fletcher to try to play something out of the box and give the fielding team a chance to pick up his wicket.

Alzarri Joseph decided to have a 'chat' with Andre Fletcher

One such incident occurred during the 14th over of the innings. On the fourth delivery of the over, David Wiese bowled a good-length delivery outside the off stump that moved in a bit after pitching. Andre Fletcher was looking to guide the ball behind square on the off side but got beaten. The umpire did not raise the finger, but the Kings felt that there was a feather involved in it.

Following the incident, the Kings chose to review the decision. Alzarri Joseph of the St Lucia Kings engaged in a heated discussion with Andre Fletcher during the review. Despite the appearance, the exchange seemed more about disrupting the batter's concentration than being confrontational.

The replays however confirmed that there was no edge involved in that. At the time of writing the Patriots have finished their batting and have posted 173/5 in their 20 overs.
