The Guyana Amazon Warriors put in a record-breaking display in the seventh match of the CPL 2024 against the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. This match is being played at the Warner Parker Stadium in St. Kitts.

The Warriors won the toss in the game and decided to bat first. They lost Kevin Sinclair and Shai Hope within the first six overs. But this did not deter the Warriors from maintaining the momentum in their innings.

Gurbaz and Hetmyer rebuild the innings with aggression

Rahmaullah Gurbaz and Shimron Hetmyer got together at the fall of the second wicket and stitched together a partnership of 116 runs off 47 deliveries. This partnership set the Warriors on the path to a massive total.

Both Gurbaz and Hetmyer scored quick-fire half-centuries. However, Gurbaz did not stay there till the end of the innings. He was dismissed for his personal score of 69 off 37 deliveries. Even after the dismissal of Gurbaz, Hetmyer continued his destruction.

On the 14th over of the innings, Shimron Hetmyer unleashed his fury on the South African pacer, Anrich Nortje. On the first two deliveries of the over, Hetmyer hit Nortje for two huge maximums. While the first delivery was a  low full toss at the off stump line, that Hetmyer slogged away over mid-wicket for a maximum, the next one was a slower short delivery that the southpaw pulled over the square leg fence.

Hetmyer ultimately finished with 91 from 39 deliveries. His innings ensured that the Warriors shattered many records during the innings. The team finished with a total of 266/7 in their 20 overs, the highest total in this edition of the tournament. It is also the second highest total in the history of CPL.

The Patriots have started off the chase on a great note. At the time of writing they are stationed at 114/2 in just 7 overs.
