The Guyana Amazon Warriors are facing the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the seventh match of the CPL 2024. The defending champions of the league, the Warriors came into this game with the intention of maintaining their winning momentum that they got from their first game of the tournament.

Gurbaz and Hetmyer propelled the Warriors towards a huge total

Ahead of the match, the Warriors won the toss and opted to bat first. Though they lost a couple of wickets in the powerplay, the Warriors got a good momentum into their innings from the very beginning. However, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Shimron Hetmyer, who came together after the dismissal of Shai Hope, thrashed the bowlers of the Patriots to all parts of the ground.

Both Gurbaz and Hetmyer looked in a brilliant touch and they took full advantage of the form they had. The Afghan top-order batter, Rahmanullah Gurbaz turned on his beast mode and it was particularly evident during the shot he played to Mohammad Mohsin in the eighth over of the innings.

On the fifth delivery of the over, Mohsin tossed it up around the off stump line to Gurbaz. The batter moved away from the line of the ball and heaved it straight over the bowler's head for a huge maximum. Gurbaz's power in the shot was unreal as the ball sailed over the roof of the stadium. It turned out to be a massive 97m hit in the end.

The Warriors are moving towards a massive total

Gurbaz played a blinder of 69 runs from 37 deliveries. His partnership of 116 runs from 47 deliveries with Shimron Hetmyer got the Warriors moving towards a mammoth total.

The Warriors have sensed that they need a big target to win the game. The pitch at Warner Park has so favour been a heaven for the batters. In all the five innings that have been played here so far, the 200-mark has been crossed.

At the time of writing, the Warriors are stationed at 253/6 in 19.3 overs.
