Raging Punjab Kings batsman Prabhsimran Singh struck a couple of boundaries and sixes in his 17-ball top-order cameo before he was halted by RCB spinner Glenn Maxwell.

The Australian all-rounder, tasked to bowl the ninth over of the Punjab Kings innings in match number six of the IPL 2024 season, got rid of Prabhsimran to curtail the latter’s 55-run partnership with captain Shikhar Dhawan.

Extra bounce from Maxwell accounts for Prabhsimran

Punjab Kings number three Prabhsimran Singh made his way to the middle following the early dismissal of opener Jonny Bairstow. The 23-year-old subsequently led his team’s top-order recovery by sharing a fluent 55-run stand with skipper Shikhar Dhawan.

Prabhsimran himself produced 25 runs off 17 deliveries with two boundaries and two sixes before he was caught out by RCB wicketkeeper Anuj Rawat. His untimely dismissal occurred during the ninth over of the Punjab Kings innings, when the tried to slog Glenn Maxwell for a six, just moments after dispatching the RCB spinner over square leg for a maximum.

Glenn Maxwell’s breakthrough was soon followed by the sudden dismissals of well-set batter Shikhar Dhawan and slog-overs barbarian Liam Livingstone, as Punjab Kings slipped from 72-1 to 98-4 in the space of 20 balls.

Earlier in the match, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis had won the toss and asked Punjab Kings skipper Dhawan to bat first. The contest marks the sixth match of IPL 2024, and the first home game of the season for the RCB franchise.
