Jonny Bairstow, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape batter, was at his imperial best, and alongside Quinton de Kock, the English star tore apart the Pretoria Capitals as the Sunrisers thumped them to win a one-sided contest. The Capitals batted first and scored just 176/7 on a wicket that got better as the match progressed.

In reply, the Sunrisers made a mockery of the total as Bairstow and De Kock remained unbeaten and staged a 177-run partnership to help their side win the match by 10 wickets. While their stellar partnership was the highlight of the evening, there was something else that stole the show, and it was how Bairstow tore apart Keshav Maharaj.

Most expensive over in SA20 history: Jonny Bairstow creates history

In the 12th over of the match, when Maharaj came to bowl, Bairstow had already settled at the crease, and the South African spinner was tasked with containing the Sunrisers' opening duo. However, Bairstow had some other plans as he started with three sixes in a row to rattle the left-arm spinner.

It was then followed by more carnage as the English batter hammered 4, 6, and 6 in the last 3 deliveries to hammer Maharaj for 34 runs in a single over. The Pretoria spinner looked helpless as he conceded 5 sixes against Jonny Bairstow, and this turned out to be the most expensive over in SA20 history.

Eventually, Bairstow remained unbeaten at 85 as the team won the contest without breaking a sweat. Alongside him, Quinton de Kock also remained not out at 79 off 41 balls.
