Barbados Royals secured their first victory in the CPL 2023, defeating St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by six wickets in a high-scoring encounter in the tenth match of the tournament. Batting first, the Patriots posted a daunting 197-run total, which the Royals chased inside 19 overs, courtesy of an incredible knock from Rovman Powell. 

However, besides Powell's fireworks, an incident that grabbed the fans' attention was an expensive final over from Nyeem Young, who conceded 33 runs in five deliveries. 

After being put into bat first, the Patriots powered themselves to 163 for six in 19 overs, relying on the all-rounders Corbin Bosch and Dominic Drakes to ensure a fitting finish. The dynamic duo didn't disappoint, collecting 34 runs, including four sixes and a boundary off the final over. 

The Royals' decision to go with Young to deliver the last over backfired on them badly, as Drakes smacked him for a huge six over deep mid wicket. 

As soon as the left-handed batter went off strike, Bosch smashed consecutive boundaries off Young to finish things on a high note.

The right-arm pacer was so miserable that the Royals' skipper Rovman Powell handed the ball to Jason Holder to deliver the final ball of the innings. 

However, the total proved to be insufficient for the Royals' formidable batting unit, as they got past the finish line with nine balls to spare. They will take on the star-studded Trinbago Knight Riders in their upcoming group-stage fixture on August 31.
