The Indian cricket team which will participate in the Asia Cup 2023 is currently in Bangalore for a six-day camp before they leave for Sri Lanka.

Fitness and medical tests were conducted on the first day of the camp. This included the mandatory yo-yo test, where Shubman Gill top scored with a mark of 18.7 while Virat Kohli scored 17.2.

Most players from the team passed the test but according to PTI, there were five of them who did not take the test, namely Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul and Prasidh Krishna.

Although Rahul has been named in the squad, it has been learnt that he has not regained complete fitness and the management thus didn't want him to undergo the rigorous yo-yo test.

Bumrah, Tilak, Krishna and Samson, meanwhile, weren't required to take the test as they recently played a series against Ireland. India, led by Bumrah who returned from a long injury layoff, won the three-match T20I series against Ireland.

For those who do not know, the yo-yo test is a fitness assessment tool that has become popular in various sports. It is used to measure a player's cardiovascular endurance and overall fitness level. The test is designed to mimic the physical demands of sports like cricket, which require players to be completely fit and active throughout the match.

India will begin their Asia Cup campaign against Pakistan in Kandy on September 2.
