Punjab Kings cricketer Vishnu Vinod went ballistic in match number eight of the Kerala Cricket League T20 2025 season. Opening the innings for the Aries Kollam Sailors after a couple of failures, Vinod blasted 10 huge sixes and three boundaries off Kochi Blue Tigers bowlers at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.
The 31-year-old uncapped Indian cricketer clattered 94 runs from just 41 balls to catapult the Sailors to a monumental 236-5 in 20 overs, a knock that almost felt like an audition to stake his claim for a spot in an IPL XI once again.
Vishnu Vinod Revives Spotlight With KCL Fireworks
Former RCB and MI cricketer, and current Punjab Kings star Vishnu Vinod went berserk in KCL 2025 season with a turbulent knock against Kochi Blue Tigers bowlers. The attacking wicketkeeper-batter slapped 94 runs from just 41 balls with 10 huge sixes to maintain an astonishing strike rate of 229.27.
His captain Sachin Baby at number three also cracked 91 from 44 balls with six boundaries and six maximums as the Aries Kollam Sailors mounted 236-5 in 20 overs. Unfortunately for Vishnu Vinod, the Sailors lost the match off the very last ball to the Tigers by four wickets.
Nonetheless, Vinod’s fireworks served as a timely audition for an IPL XI berth, while also keeping alive faint whispers of a potential national reckoning at the age of 31, much like how a certain Suryakumar Yadav did back in early 2021 at a similar age.
Vishnu Vinod previously played a handful of games for both, RCB and Mumbai Indians franchises in 2017 and 2023 editions respectively. However, the right-hander failed to light up the T20 stage back then, making his current surge in the Kerala Cricket League 2025 feel like a redemption script waiting for its next chapter.
He also landed a spot in the Punjab Kings line-up for this year’s IPL 2025 season. As it turned out, the Kerala stumper failed to receive a single crack in the team’s playing XI as they frolicked to their first IPL final in over a decade.
