Vishmi Gunaratne, the 18-year-old young sensation from Sri Lanka has created history against Ireland by belting a century in the first ODI of the three-match series between the two sides. She has also become the second cricketer after Chamari Athapaththu to score a century in Women's ODIs for Sri Lanka and has announced herself on the big stage with her swashbuckling knock.

The right-handed opening batter scored 101 off 98 balls and hit three sixes and nine fours in her knock. Her knock was a special one as Sri Lanka's talismanic skipper Chamari Athapaththu departed for a golden duck and the team needed someone from the top-order to step up in her absence.

Vishmi got to her century in the 31st over with a boundary towards the long off region and her century is surely a great sign for Sri Lanka going forward.
