SL Captain Chamari Athapaththu Joins Sydney Thunder In Blockbuster WBBL Deal

Sri Lankan women's team skipper Chamari Athapaththu has been the talk of the town since her heroic effort in Women's Asia Cup, and now has signed a breakthrough 3-year deal with Sydney Thunder ahead of Women's Big Bash League 2024-25.

Athapaththu, the stylish southpaw was a late entry in Thunder's squad in the last season and stole the show with her all-round skills. She smashed 552 runs with the bat in hand and picked 9 wickets as well which has prompted the Thunder management to sign a multi-year deal with the charismatic cricketer.

The Sri Lankan captain is fast emerging as a globe-trotter from Sri Lanka and apart from WBBL, she has also been seen in WPL and 'The Hundred'.


Sophie Devine Signs Two-Year Deal With Perth Scorchers

New Zealand superstar and ace-allrounder Sophie Devine has also signed the WBBL deal for two years with Perth Scorchers, the franchise she has been associated for quite some time now. 

She even captained Scorchers to a title win in the 2021-22 season and has been the pillar of Perth Scorchers' squad with her all-round skills. The 2024-25 season is all set to kickstart on October 27 and is expected to be a blockbuster tournament with plenty of Australian and overseas superstars plying their trade.
