Pakistan may have hammered Afghanistan by 75 runs in the UAE Tri-Series final but it wasn’t just the wickets and sixes that got fans talking. Skipper Salman Ali Agha sparked a storm with a cheeky gesture after pouching Mohammad Nabi’s catch at cover.
Salman Ali Agha Mocks Nabi After Catch As Pakistan Crush Afghanistan
The moment went viral in no time and it added spice to an already one-sided clash in Sharjah. Nabi looked to break the shackles against Abrar Ahmed as he slapped a short and wide flighted leg-break through the off side.
Instead, he found Agha Salman stationed at cover. The Pakistan captain held on with ease before pointing to his head with both hands, as if telling Nabi, “Use your brain, that’s not how you play here.”
The tongue-in-cheek gesture lit up social media instantly. Fans lapped it up with some calling it banter at its best while others felt the Pakistan captain was trying to say something else. Either way, it was the moment of the evening, showing Salman isn’t shy of letting opponents know what he thinks.
Pakistan Bowlers Run Riot
While Salman’s antics grabbed headlines, it was Pakistan’s bowlers who stole the show on the field. Mohammad Nawaz was the pick of the lot, snaring 5 for 19 including a hat-trick to tear through Afghanistan’s middle order.
Shaheen Afridi struck early, Abrar chipped in with two and Sufiyan Muqeem cleaned up the tail. Afghanistan folded for just 66 in 15.5 overs, crashing to their lowest total in T20Is against Pakistan.
Earlier in the game, Fakhar Zaman (27), Salman Agha himself (24) and Mohammad Nawaz (25) chipped in, taking Pakistan to 141/8. Not a massive score, but more than enough on the night.
Meanwhile, with the Asia Cup 2025 around the corner, Salman’s aggressive captaincy style is clearly setting the tone for Pakistan.
