On Sunday, Pakistan defeated Afghanistan in Sharjah on Sunday to win the T20I tri-series. The series was a warm-up before the big tournament starting in Dubai and Abu Dhabi on September 9.

After the win, Pakistan’s captain Salman Ali Agha and star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi announced they would donate all their prize money and earnings from the series to help people affected by the recent floods in Pakistan.

The victory came with a strong bowling performance, especially from spinner Mohammad Nawaz, who took four wickets, including a hat-trick. Afghanistan, chasing 142, were all out for just 66 runs. Shaheen Afridi struck early, while Abrar Ahmed and Sufiyan Muqeem also picked up wickets.

Earlier, Pakistan scored 141 runs for eight wickets. Salman Ali Agha and Nawaz added important runs in the middle to guide the team to a defendable total. For Afghanistan, Rashid Khan took three wickets.

Pakistani Cricketers Donate Winnings To Flood Victims

After lifting the trophy, captain Agha dedicated the win to the flood victims. He said:

“Our country is going through a difficult time. Shaheen Afridi and I will donate our tri-nation series earnings to all affected by the floods back home.”

“I’d encourage our stars to donate toward rebuilding for those whose lives have been destroyed,” Agha added.

Shaheen Afridi echoed the message on social media:

“This one is for the people of Pakistan. Salman Ali Agha and I are donating all our earnings to the flood victims back home."

This year’s heavy monsoon rains have caused massive floods across Pakistan, destroying homes, roads, and crops, and affecting millions of people. Many in the sporting community have stepped up to help.

Recently, Peshawar Zalmi organised a charity match where big names like Babar Azam and Shoaib Akhtar also played to raise funds for the victims.
