On what looked like sluggish Sharjah wicket, Afghanistan had a poor start, losing two early wickets. Nawaz entered in the final over of the powerplay, dismissing Darwish Rasooli and Azmatullah Omarzai. Returning in his next over, he struck again, removing Ibrahim Zadran to complete a sensational hattrick.

With this feat, Nawaz etched his name in Pakistan’s cricketing folklore, becoming only the third men’s bowler from his nation to claim a hat-trick in T20 internationals, following in the footsteps of Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Hasnain.

Moreover, Nawaz didn’t stop at the hat-trick he went on to claim his maiden T20I five-wicket haul, becoming only the fifth Pakistani male cricketer to achieve a fifer in T20 Internationals, highlighting a truly historic performance.

Afghanistan crumbled without resistance as Nawaz delivered exceptional figures of 5/19 in his four overs, firmly putting Pakistan in control of the UAE T20I Tri-Series Final. The Afghans were eventually bowled out for just 66 runs, their second-lowest T20I total where they got all out, second to 56 against South Africa in Tarouba last year.

Pakistan won the UAE T20I Tri-Series Final by a commanding margin of 75 runs and will head into the much-awaited Asia Cup with high confidence. In addition, Nawaz, with his historic performance, has surely cemented his place as a match-winner for the Men in Green.
