In what turned out to be a one-sided contest, Gujarat Giants beat UP Warriorz Women by 81 runs in the 15th fixture of WPL 2025. In the second inning, the Giants’ bowling lineup bowled tight spells to induce a collapse as UP got bowled out for 105 runs.
Here's how UP vs GG panned out in Lucknow:
Beth Mooney’s impressive 96* fuels Gujarat Giants
Gujarat Giants Women batted first but lost opener Hemalatha early in the powerplay. Chinelle Henry forced her to hole out to Uma Chetry on just 2 runs.
However, despite the early setback, Beth Mooney and Harleen Deol delivered under the pressure. The duo stitched a record 101-run partnership for the second wicket to help the Giants surpass the 100-run mark in 12 overs.
Moreover, while Harleen missed out of her half century by 5 runs, Mooney went on to score an unbeaten 96 runs off 59 balls, including 17 boundaries. Owing to her scintillating knock, Gujarat Giants posted a match-winning total of 186 runs on the board at the end of first 20 overs.
Deandra Dottin’s sensational spell leaves Warriorz stunned
Gujarat Giants began the second inning with a sheer amount of confidence as they had a par total in hand to defend. Deandra Dottin got the first breakthrough as she dismissed UP Warriorz opener Kiran Navgire on a golden duck.
It was a loose shot as Kiran tried to chase the ball outside off the stump line, and Litchfield made no mistake at slip to leap for a perfect catch.
However, Navgire’s early wicket ignited a shocking collapse as UP Warriorz Women lost 4 wickets on the trot in the powerplay. In 5 overs, they had just 25 runs on the board with four batters back in the hut.
UP Warriorz losses after humiliating batting collapse
Those early blows in the powerplay never let UP Warriorz get back into the game. Kashvee Gautam and Tanuja Kanwar picked two wickets each to derail the middle-order. Chinelle Henry put a fighting 28 off 14 balls, but the required run rate soared out of her reach.
Eventually, UP Warriorz got bowled out for just 105 runs in the second inning, leading to an 81-run victory for Gujarat Giants Women.
