IND u19 vs AUS u19: Team Previews

India Under-19

Team India justified their defending champions tag by finishing at the top of the Group A points table, trouncing Bangladesh, Ireland, Nepal and the USA in the process with emphatic margins.

Under Uday Saharan, the ‘Boys in Blue’ also ravaged New Zealand by 214 runs in the Super Sixes and overcame South Africa by two wickets in a hard-fought semifinal thriller at Benoni roughly a week before the planned finals.

Bowlers Saumy Pandey, Naman Tiwari and others have proven effective with their timely breakthroughs, while all-rounder Musheer Khan has plundered two centuries so far in this tournament.

Captain Saharan himself has led his side from the front, while fellow batting stalwart Sachin Dhas unleashed a majestic match-winning 96 against South Africa and another 116 against Nepal in successive games prior to the title clash.

At the same time, fellow batting sensation Sachin Dhas unleashed a majestic match-winning 96 against South Africa and another 116 against Nepal in successive games prior to the title clash.

Australia Under-19

Australia u19, under Hugh Weibgen, will aim to end their 14-year-old title drought, considering the last time they lifted the Under-19 World Cup trophy was way back in the 2010 tournament edition. Much like India, the Australian team will be heading into the title clash off the back of an unbeaten run.

They steamrolled over each of their Group C opponents before their Super Sixes clash against West Indies was called off owing to rain. The Australians barely prevailed over Pakistan in a tight semifinal to secure their first spot in the finals since 2018.

Captain Weibgen, who has listed 459 runs in his last ten innings, will once again start out as a pivotal member of his side along with Sam Konstas.

IND u19 vs AUS u19: Benoni Pitch Report

While the surface at Willowmoore Park is generally known to be conducive for batters, it has been offering much assistance to the fast bowlers in this Under-19 World Cup 2024.

The average first innings total at the venue after hosting five matches this tournament has emerged in the range of mid-190s.

The captain winning the toss will likely opt to field first, considering the chasing sides have won three of the past five fixtures here, including twice in both semifinals this week.
