Australia swashbuckling batter Travis Head was in top form as he smashed his 8th century in Test during the second Test against India at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide. His confident stroke play and composure at the crease showcased why he’s such a premier player for Australia.

The incident happened during the 72nd over of Australia’s first innings when R. Ashwin came to bowl. On the 6th ball, Ashwin delivered a full one on the stumps, and Travis Head nudged it through square leg for a single. With that, Head reached his 8th century in Test cricket, scoring 100 runs off just 101 balls. It was also his third century on his home ground.

Head celebrated the milestone with a heartwarming gesture towards his young family. He placed his bat handle on his chest and acknowledged the cheering home crowd with gratitude.

Australia Take Lead In 2nd Test Against India

Australia started Day 2 of their first innings at 86/1 and looked solid initially. However, Jasprit Bumrah quickly brought India into the game by dismissing Nathan McSweeney. Shortly after, Bumrah struck again, sending Steve Smith back to the pavilion for just 2 runs off 11 balls.

With two quick wickets, India seemed to gain control, but Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head steadied the ship for Australia. The duo displayed some elegant stroke play, building a 65-run partnership. Just when it looked like they might take the game away, Nitish Kumar Reddy came to India’s rescue, dismissing Labuschagne for a well-made 64.

At the time of writing, Australia are at 251 for 5 in 70 overs.
