Playing at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, du Plessis scored 103* off just 53 balls, hitting 9 sixes and 5 fours. His explosive innings helped Texas post a massive total of 223/4. In the chase, MI New York fell short of 39 runs despite Kieron Pollard’s 70 off 39 balls.
Faf Du Plessis Scripts History In MLC
Texas Super Kings captain Faf Du Plessis slammed his third century in MLC, making him the first player in the league’s history to score this many tons. At 40 years old, the veteran batter showed that age is just a number.
With this knock, he also equalled some of the biggest names in T20 cricket, like Rohit Sharma, Jos Buttler, Glenn Maxwell, and David Warner, with 8 T20 centuries in total.
He now stands joint fourth in the all-time list for most centuries in T20s. Chris Gayle leads that list with 22 centuries.

Du Plessis got great support from teammate Donovan Ferreira, who smashed 53 off 20 balls. Together, they added 81 runs for the third wicket. Other contributions came from Marcus Stoinis and Saiteja Mukkamalla, both scoring 26 runs each.
With this win, the Texas Super Kings qualified for playoffs with 10 points in 7 games.
Du Plessis Defies Age To Rewrite Record Books
Texas Super Kings skipper Faf du Plessis is defying age, critics, and expectations in the MLC 2025 season. The veteran rewrote T20 history by becoming the first batter ever to hit multiple hundreds after turning 40.
At 40 years and 352 days, du Plessis scored his first post-40 ton on June 20, 2025, against the San Francisco Unicorns. Just 10 days later, he repeated the feat, showing his class and fitness.
