Veteran Faf du Plessis rolled back the years with an extraordinary one-handed diving catch that became the defining moment of Texas Super Kings' victory over MI New York in MLC 2025. While Faf is known for his extraordinary skills with the bat in league tournaments like the IPL, his athletic side was unleashed in his latest game.

Faf du Plessis Turns The Tide With A Screamer

In the match, the 40-year-old South African, stationed at mid-off, launched himself full-stretch to his right to dismiss the dangerous Michael Bracewell (38 off 21 balls), snatching a certain boundary and dramatically shifting momentum during a tense run chase.

With Bracewell looking to carve a short-pitched delivery over the infield, du Plessis displayed lightning-quick reflexes. He completed the catch  in a display of athleticism, awareness, and timing described as simply elite. The catch instantly went viral, trending across cricket social media.

Bracewell's wicket proved pivotal, puncturing MI New York's momentum just as the chase was gathering steam. The loss of Bracewell dented MI New York’s chase, and Texas Super Kings capitalized, tightening their bowling to secure the win.

Texas Gain Control Of The Match After Faf's Catch

In the match, chasing 186, MI New York had recovered from 24/3 thanks to Bracewell and Monank Patel's counter-attacking 95-run partnership, reaching 119/3 by the 13th over. The game hung in the balance until du Plessis produced his moment of magic off Adam Milne's bowling in the 14th over.

The catch capped a significant outing for the Texas skipper. While he scored a brisk 18 opening the batting, his impact was felt more profoundly through his fielding and captaincy.
