In a one-off Test match against South Africa, Zimbabwe batter Sean Williams scored an inspiring century to save his team’s pride. His 137 off 164 balls knock is the third-highest Test score of Williams’ career.

South Africa batted first, and Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Corbin Bosch scored a century each to propel the Proteas to a total of 418 runs in the first inning.

However, in the second inning, Zimbabwe suffered early blows from Codi Yusuf as they lost 2 wickets with just 23 runs on the board.

Against the odds, Sean Williams and Craig Ervine stitched a 96-run partnership. Williams played an anchor knock and scored a stunning century. He went on to put 137 runs together in 164 balls with 16 boundaries and 83.54 strike rate.

This is his third-highest Test score. Williams’ highest Test score came in 2024 when he scored a brilliant 154 against Afghanistan in Bulawayo. It was a fighting knock where Williams led from the front, holding the innings together and playing some elegant shots.

Highest Test scores for Sean Williams:

  • 154 vs Afghanistan, Bulawayo (2024)
  • 151* vs Afghanistan, Abu Dhabi (2021)
  • 137 vs South Africa, Bulawayo (2025)
  • 119 vs New Zealand, Bulawayo (2016)

He once again dominated Afghanistan to slam an unbeaten 151 in Abu Dhabi in 2021. Now, Williams played a gritty knock against a quality opposition and helped his team avoid an ugly collapse.

Despite Sean Williams’ century, the lack of support from the rest of the batting lineup restricted Zimbabwe to 251 runs in the second inning. South Africa now have a 167-run lead and remain in the driver's seat.
