Pakistan steamrolled a strong South African unit in a crucial two-pointer contest at the Sydney Cricket Ground. All-rounder Shadab Khan was the star of the show as the Men in Green progressively rebooted their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign in winning ways.

With the collision course for the semi-final race heating up, the Babar Azam-led side has now jumped to number three on the Group 2 points table.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam washed up 15 deliveries to score just six runs at the top. After the match, the cricketer highlighted his own dry run with the bat this tournament, where he has gathered just 14 runs from four outings.

Azam also expressed his delight over the team's fightback against a strong unbeaten South African unit at the SCG. Reeling at 43-4 at one stage, the likes of Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan lifted the team's total to 185-9, with the latter of the two smacking a 22-ball 52 in the death overs.

The captain praised the duo's efforts with the bat and also credited Mohammad Haris for tilting the tide in their favour through his rapid 28.

Here's what Babar stated

“Very happy the way the team performed. Me and Rizwan were not up to the mark, but the way Haris played, he's a different player and shifted the momentum. Then Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed were outstanding in finishing the innings. These are out best players and everyone is ready to play. Everyone is a match-winner. Frist two matches were close losses, but we've given 100% in the last two matches and you never know, cricket is a funny game, we hope for the best.”

Pakistan will now face Bangladesh in the final group game on November 6. The match, marking a must-win one for them, will be played at the Adelaide Oval.
