Sachin Baby to lead as Kerala announce squad for Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022

In a significant development, Kerala have announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming season of Vijay Hazare Trophy. Veteran batter Sachin Baby is set to lead the team, while stylish southpaw Ponnan Rahul will play his deputy. Sachin has been named captain in the absence of Sanju Samson who has been picked in the Indian team for the New Zealand tour. 

Since his debut, Sachin has established himself as a vital cog in Kerala's domestic setup. The stylish left-handed batter has 2952 runs to his name in 81 List-A appearances at an impressive average of 41 and a healthy strike rate of 81.38. He has slammed three centuries and twenty one half centuries, playing an instrumental role in Kerala's many historic victories. 

Sachin, 33, has also represented the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL with modest success, amassing 141 runs at a strike rate of 127.03.
