It turned out to be a classic and confident victory for the touring under-19 Indian side, who rolled over Australia under-19 at their home, as they won comfortably by an innings and 58 runs at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane. On the back of twin centuries by Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Vedant Trivedi, India gained an outstanding victory, where Deepesh Devendran picked up a five-wicket haul.

Here, we take a look at the highlights of the first Youth Test of the two-match series between Australia U19 and India U19, as it panned out at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane.

Deepesh Devendran shows class with a five-wicket haul to fold AUS U19 for 243

The Australian U19 side opted to bat first and were rocked early by the pace of Deepesh Devendran, the Tamil Nadu pacer, who backed up with a magnificent five-wicket haul, giving away just 45 runs in his 16.1 overs. At the same time, Kishan Kumar's three wickets helped India under-19 bowl out Australia for just 243, where Steven Hogan's 92 proved useful for the home side.

Indian pacers were rapid and hard to play, as they clocked speeds above 130 kilometres per hour, making it difficult for the Australian batters to bat on the surface. Hogan played a resilient 92-run knock off 246 deliveries, with eight boundaries to his name, before being done by Devendran.

Suryavanshi, Trivedi prove tough for AUS U19 as India U19 mount to 428

India under-19, in pursuit of getting past 243, went ahead with opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi rocking the Australian bowlers all over the park with a blazing 113-run knock off just 86 deliveries, which included nine boundaries and eight maximums at a strike rate of 131.40, as he tossed the ball as far as he could.

On the other hand, second-down batter Vedant Trivedi played his part, as he bettered Suryavanshi with a 140-run knock from 192 balls that included 19 fours during his stay at the crease.

Meanwhile, Khilan Patel's 49 helped India U-19 post a mammoth 428 runs on the board after 81.3 overs, before being done by Hayden Schiller and skipper Will Malajczuk, who took three wickets respectively, as India managed an outstanding lead of 185 runs, which was out of bounds for the Australian side.

AUS U19 batters fail again as India gain an innings victory

Looking to prevent the defeat, the Australian batting lineup faltered again, this time with a collective bowling effort from Patel and Devendran, who took three wickets apiece. In comparison, Anmoljeet Singh and Kishan Kumar's two wickets apiece helped India bowl Australia under-19 for just 127 after 49.3 overs, as despite Aryan Sharma's 43, no other batter could face the music of the Indian pace attack.

Runs were hard to come by for the home side's batters, who failed to register a single half-century score in the second innings, as they handed the Indian team a mammoth victory by an innings and 58 runs in the first youth Test at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane, going up in the two-match series 1-0.

Apart from Suryavanshi and Trivedi's knocks, the Tamil Nadu pacer Devendran proved to be the hero with the ball, taking eight wickets in the match, with five coming in the first innings alone.
