Mohammed Siraj pulled off an extraordinary catch to dismiss Josh Tongue as England lost their 9th wicket in the fourth inning of the Edgbaston Test. Siraj’s sharp fielding skills not only impressed fans but also brought India close to a victory.
Team India won the second Test against England at Edgbaston by 336 runs. Akash Deep picked up a 6-wicket-haul and dismissed the last batter, Brydon Carse, to get his team through the line.
However, before that, a sturdy partnership was broken by Ravindra Jadeja courtesy of Siraj’s remarkable catch.
Siraj Plucks Brilliant Catch Out Of Thin Air To Win Fans’ Hearts
Ravindra Jadeja floated a full delivery on the leg stump, tempting tail-ender Josh Tongue to flick it through the leg side. Tongue did just that but failed to keep it down.
Siraj, stationed at short mid-wicket, reacted instantly. Diving low to his right, he plucked a one-handed screamer, the ball sticking in his palm as he crashed to the ground.
He just lay there for a moment, soaking in the applause, disbelief on everyone’s faces, including Tongue’s. India swarmed around Mohammed Siraj, celebrating a moment of magic.
Meanwhile, fans on social media were equally stunned by the bowler’s fielding efforts. They praised him for showing up on the field and taking an important catch that helped India win.
