The Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions may miss out on playing in the first-ever World Clubs T20 Championship next year. According to reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) failed to attend an important meeting in London, which has led to their likely exclusion from the upcoming tournament.

The iconic Champions League T20 is officially returning in 2026 as the World Club Championship. Top teams from leagues like the IPL, MLC, BBL, SA20, and The Hundred are expected to battle it out.

PSL To Be Kicked Out Of World Clubs Championship?

To discuss the future of the World Clubs Championship, a meeting was held on the sidelines of the Cricket Connect Summit last month. The meeting was attended by top officials from major T20 leagues around the world.

These included leagues like the Big Bash League (BBL), SA20, The Hundred, Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Major League Cricket (MLC), and the UAE’s ILT20.

The meeting was organised by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) with support from the ICC and its chairman, Jay Shah. The PCB was invited to send the CEO of the PSL, but according to Geo TV, no one showed up.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board was invited to send its CEO of the PSL for a meeting held on the sidelines of the cricket connect meeting in London last month but no one showed up," a source told Geo TV.

As a result, PSL champions, such as the Lahore Qalandars, are now unlikely to be part of the high-profile global event.

While a full schedule and other details of the new tournament are yet to be finalised, Pakistan appear in deep trouble over their questionable choices.

PSL Team Owner Criticises PCB

Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for what he called "misleading" claims about the success of PSL 10. In a sharp post on X, Tareen criticised the board’s glowing assessment, saying stadium attendance and TV viewership actually dropped.

He called the draft comical and the tournament experience chaotic and disorganised. Tareen also claimed digital growth was sluggish and logistical issues plagued franchises. This comes after the PCB claimed over PKR 500 million in gate revenue, with high TV ratings and record-breaking viewership, calling PSL 10 one of the most successful seasons ever.
