In a remarkable show of dominance in One-Day Internationals (ODIs), the Sri Lankan team achieved a significant milestone by bowling out their opposition for the 14th consecutive time in Asia Cup 2023 Super Fours clash at the R Premadasa Stadium on Tuesday.

Lankan bowlers continue streak of bowling out the opposition, makes it 14 in a row

Continuing their sensational form, the Lankan bowlers ran through the strong Indian batting lineup, bundling them out for just 213 in Colombo.

The formidable Indian team, fresh from a mammoth total of 356/2 against Pakistan just a day prior, fell prey to the spin magic of the Lankan bowlers. The spin trio of Dunith Wellalage, Charith Asalanka, and Maheesh Theekshana shared the spoils by picking up all 10 wickets among themselves. Impressively, young spinner Wellalage registered figures of 5/40, making him the only left-arm spinner from Sri Lanka to claim a five-wicket haul against India in ODIs.

India's strong start, with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill adding 80 runs, could not handle Sri Lanka's persistence. Their determination to bowl out the opposition has been a hallmark of their recent success, leading them to their longest winning streak in ODIs, with 13 straight victories before this match.

They are now inching closer to Australia's record of 21 back-to-back ODI wins set in 2003. It's worth noting that Sri Lanka's bowlers have played a pivotal role in this impressive streak by ensuring they bowl out the opposition in every game.

This match also saw India lose all their wickets to spinners for the first time in an ODI, highlighting the potency of Sri Lanka's spin attack. It's the 10th instance in ODI history where a team's entire batting lineup was toppled by spinners.

With this form, the defending champions of Asia Cup are setting new benchmarks and are delivering the goods at the right time ahead of the high-voltage final.
