South Delhi Superstarz Women edged past Central Delhi Queens by just one run in a nail-biting final to lift the WDPL 2025 title at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday. In a contest that went down to the very last ball, SDS-W successfully defended 121/8, with nerves of steel and disciplined bowling sealing the trophy.

South Delhi Falters With Low Total

Opting to bat first, South Delhi Superstarz posted 121/8 in their 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Monika, who struck 33 off 28 balls with two fours and a six, while wicketkeeper Riya Shokeen held the middle order together with a steady 28 not out from 28 deliveries.

Deeksha Sharma contributed 23 at the top, and Saachi chipped in with 17. However, frequent wickets prevented the batting side from building momentum. For the Queens, Medhavi Bidhuri was the standout bowler with 3/26, while Himakshi Choudary chipped in with two crucial wickets.

Bowlers Pull Off Heroic Win For South Delhi

In reply, Central Delhi Queens came agonisingly close but fell short at 120/8. Captain Shweta Sehrawat led from the front with a counter-attacking 34 off 24 balls, smashing two fours and two sixes, while opener Shivi Sharma added 29. Wicketkeeper Tanishqa Singh contributed 28, but the Queens kept losing wickets at key stages.

SDS-W bowlers held their composure in the death overs, with Priya Mishra (2/19) and Saachi (2/7) applying pressure when it mattered most. Nidhi Mahto also struck twice to keep the game in the balance.

With six runs needed off the final delivery, the Queens could manage only a boundary off Medhavi Bidhuri as South Delhi Superstarz Women sealed a famous one-run victory. Bidhuri conceded only 13 runs off her over while also scalping a wicket, which led to the nerve-wracking win. The Superstarz camp erupted in celebrations as they claimed the WDPL 2025 crown in dramatic fashion.
