Babar Azam fans were busy trolling Saim Ayub and Mohammad Haris for their failures against India in the high-voltage Asia Cup 2025 match. In a humiliating show, Ayub got out on a golden duck, while Haris managed to muster only 3 runs off 5 balls.

Amid massive uproar on social media and on the streets, the India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 encounter got underway at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium with a decent crowd turnout.

Pakistan captain Salman Agha won the toss and elected to bat first. However, his top order let him down in a way he wouldn’t see coming.

Saim Ayub, Haris Targeted By Babar Azam Fans For Mediocrity Vs India 

Pakistan’s promising young opener, Saim Ayub, edged a back-of-length outswinger against Hardik Pandya straight to Jasprit Bumrah at point, getting dismissed on a golden duck on the very first ball of the game. This is his second consecutive golden duck in Asia Cup 2025 as he was dismissed in a similar fashion against Oman.

Soon after, Bumrah joined the act by dismissing Mohammad Haris, whose aggressive intent backfired. Attempting a big heave, Haris mistimed a short delivery and sent a top edge soaring high. Hardik, positioned at long leg, covered good ground and completed a safe catch. Pakistan lost two quick wickets in the powerplay.

Interestingly, Ayub and Haris’ failures allowed Babar Azam fans to make sharp digs at both the players who previously criticised Babar for his slow strike rate.

Fakhar Zaman famously referred to Saim Ayub as the ‘updated version’ of Babar Azam, who can accelerate the innings with a good strike rate. Not only that, but Mohammad Haris advised Azam to play fast and change his approach in order to make a comeback in the T20I format.

Needless to say, Ayub and Haris didn’t follow what they preached to Babar and faced the fans’ wrath.

Notably, after Mike Hesson took charge as head coach, Babar Azam was dropped from Pakistan’s T20I squad ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 alongside Mohammad Rizwan.
