Indian cricketer Shardul Thakur has been blessed with a baby boy with his wife Mittali Parulkar. Both Shardul and Mittali confirmed the news together on Sunday, December 21, i.e., nearly three years after their marriage.
Currently out of Team India’s contention, Shardul Thakur is representing the Mumbai cricket team in the ongoing 2025-26 Indian domestic season.
Shardul Thakur begins new innings with wife Mittali
On Sunday, December 21, Shardul Thakur and his wife Mittali Parulkar welcomed a baby boy into their lives, as per their joint social media update. Taking to his Instagram account, the couple wrote that they had kept their pregnancy a “secret” from public for nine months.
Shardul Thakur engaged to Mittali Parulkar back in November 2021. The two married later in February 2023, i.e., roughly 15 months after their engagement.
On the cricketing front, Shardul Thakur was recently traded in by the Mumbai Indians franchise from the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), after undergoing an underwhelming IPL 2025 season for the latter.
The 34-year-old was also appointed as Mumbai’s white-ball captain after senior man Ajinkya Rahane relinquished his leadership responsibilities. Under his captaincy, Mumbai finished third on the Super League Group A points table, thus failing to reach the knockout stage of the 2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season, after having topped the Elite Group A eight-team standings with six wins and just a solitary defeat from seven matches.
Celebrating his fatherhood, Shardul Thakur will now turn his attention back to cricket, with a fresh IPL 2026 campaign offering an opportunity to reignite his national ambitions. The Mumbai all-rounder last represented the Indian cricket team back in July this year. Some strong performances in the ongoing domestic and the upcoming IPL 2026 season might well put the cricketer back in the selectors’ contention as he aims to balance newfound personal joy with professional resurgence.
