During the second day's play of the ongoing fifth Test between England and India at the Oval, Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj was seen wearing a headband. Siraj's headband was a tribute to former English cricketer Graham Thorpe, who tragically died last year after a horrific train accident.

Siraj Dons The Iconic Headband During The 2nd Day's Play

Tributes poured in on the second day of the fifth Test between England and India, in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar trophy at the Oval, as not just English players, but Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj as well, was seen wearing the headband.

The headband is a tribute to former English cricketer Graham Thorpe, who died last year on August 4th, and this day is being played in his memory as funds are being raised for his organisation, whereas August 1st is being remembered as "A Day for Thorpey", for raising funds for the mental health charity "Mind".

The headbands are being sold for £5 each, with the proceeds from the headbands being donated to the charity.

All the English players were seen wearing the headband during the play on Friday, August 1st, which is the birth anniversary of Thorpe, who would have been 56 if alive. Thorpe died last year on August 4 after a train accident at Esher railway station in Surrey as he succumbed to his traumatic injuries.

The proceeds from this charity will then be donated to "Thorpe's Bat and Chat" project which will be focusing on mental health.

Thorpe, who played for England from the years 1993 until 2005, featured in 100 Tests for the Three Lions and scored 6,744 runs at an average of 44.66, while he thumped 16 hundreds for his side in Test cricket.

Siraj's Four-Fer Help India Bowl Out England

After we move to the match, Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the bowlers, alongside India's Prasidh Krishna, as both of them grabbed four wickets each, where Siraj bowled 16.2 overs to give, while giving away 86 runs at an economy of 5.30, helping India bowl England out for 247 in 51.2 overs, as the home side could only gather a lead of 23 runs in the end.

By the time of writing, India were 26 for no loss after the end of five overs, with both openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul still at the crease, as they lead by three runs.
