Mohammed Siraj has been India's most consistent bowler in the ongoing five-match Test series against England, and is the only pacer from the visiting side to feature in all five games. He delivered a match-winning performance at Edgbaston and now, with a four-wicket haul at the Oval, he has become the leading wicket-taker of the series.

Siraj Climbs At The Top Of The Ladder

The right-arm pacer now has 18 wickets to his name at an average of 35.67 with one five-wicket haul to his name. He has gone past England's captain Ben Stokes, who has 17 wickets in four Test matches. Jasprit Bumrah and Josh Tongue, on the other hand, have 14 wickets each, while Akash Deep has 12 wickets to his name.

Mohammed Siraj bowled 16.2 overs while giving away 86 runs during his four-wicket haul, and it is his third-best bowling figure in England. His best performance in this series and overall in England is his six-wicket haul at Edgbaston. This is the second time he has picked four wickets in an innings in England; the previous one was in the 2021 series at the Lord's.

Workhorse Siraj Helps India Fightback At The Oval

Overall, Siraj has bowled 155.2 overs in the five Tests so far - most by any bowler in the series. He has also bowled long spells for his captain on flat decks earlier in the series, which speaks a lot about his fitness.

In this Oval Test, Siraj started off with an expensive opening spell against English openers. However, he found his mojo in the afternoon session and grabbed big wickets of Root, Ollie Pope and Bethell to stage an Indian fightback. He finished with a wicket of well-set Harry Brook and has once again stepped up for India in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. Siraj and Prasidh's efforts have helped India bowled out England for 247 and the home team have managed to take a lead of just 23 runs despite a blistering 92-run opening stand.
