With a few days left for the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 to begin, Purani Dilli 6's skipper, Vansh Bedi, is not concerned about Rishabh Pant’s availability in the tournament. For the unversed, Pant broke his foot during the ongoing England-India series, as he has now been advised to rest.

Rishabh Pant’s Unavailability Won’t Be A Problem For Purani Dilli 6

In a matter of days, the first delivery in the 2025 edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) will be bowled where, on August 5th in the sixth match of this season, Outer Delhi Warriors will be taking on Purani Dilli 6.

Interestingly, Chennai Super Kings player and captain of Purani Dilli 6, Vansh Bedi, speaking during the pre-tournament press conference, discussed Pant's unavailability for this tournament and how it won't be much of a problem for them.

Ahead of the season, Pant was retained by Purani Dilli 6 for ₹21 lakh, as he played for them last season, but was only available for their opening game, after which he was busy with other commitments and didn't take part in the league.

Bedi, confirmed that Pant won’t be available for them throughout the tournament, as him playing the entire tournament was always going to be dicey for them.

“From the start, Rishabh bhaiya playing for us was dicey. We didn’t have any confirmation of when he’ll join the team. The way we have been planning, we’ll play with the best XI," Bedi said during pre-tournament press conference.

The fact that their side reached the semi-final last year without Pant in the side is a proud matter, considering they are well equipped for this challenge as well.

"Last year, when he came, it was the cherry on top of the cake. Whatever happened, it happened for the good. I can’t tell about the future right now. If we talk about last year, he played just one game for us, so it won’t be a big change for us,” he concluded.

The 22-year-old Bedi shared that even if he was available, it was "cherry on the cake." As without him, it won't be a matter of major concern, as they have the right resources in the squad.

Pant Out For At Least Six Weeks

In the fourth Test between England and India, in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Rishabh Pant, while trying to reverse-sweep Chris Woakes, broke his right foot after the ball directly hit him, as he then sustained a fracture.

After major consultation and advice from the doctors, he has been asked to rest for at least six weeks, which means he won’t be available for the next one-and-a-half months; in fact, it could be even stretched to two months.

As for Pant, he played batting in seven of the innings and scored 479 runs at an average of 68.43 while scoring two centuries and three half-centuries in this Test series, but unfortunately, won't be taking any further part after the troubling injury.

Meanwhile, DPL 2025 will begin on 2nd August with South Delhi Superstarz and East Delhi Riders game to be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
