In a one-sided affair at Harare, Afghanistan produced a scintillating all-round performance to crush Zimbabwe in the second ODI. The match was saw a historic collapse from Zimbabwe as they were bowled out for just 54 runs, and this records their the fifth-lowest score of ODIs.

Talking about the match, Zimbabwe won the toss and elected to bowl first, but this decision soon backfired as Afghanistan got off to a flying start with their openers, Sediqullah Atal and Abdul Malik, building a solid foundation. The duo added a massive 191-run partnership for the first wicket, with significant contribution from Sediqullah Atal.
However, once the opening stand was broken, Zimbabwe experienced a brief slump. Both Azmatullah Omarzai and Rahmat Shah fell cheaply. But Sediqullah Atal continued his impressive run, and reached his maiden ODI century. Afghanistan eventually posted a competitive total of 286/5 in their allotted 50 overs.
In response, Zimbabwe’s chase turned into a nightmare from the very first over. Ben Curran was dismissed for a duck on the very first ball of the innings, leaving Zimbabwe reeling at 0/1. Things worsened rapidly as Tadiwanashe Marumani and Dion Myers were also dismissed cheaply, leaving the hosts at a disastrous 5/3.
The experienced duo of Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza briefly provided some resistance, as they stitched 21-run partnership. After Zimbabwe collapsed for mere 54 runs this recorded as the fifth-lowest total for them.
