Saim dismissed cheaply [Source: @gavaskar_theman/X.Com]
Saim Ayub, who was the star of the first ODI for Pakistan, couldn't replicate the same performance in the ongoing contest Vs South Africa and was dismissed for cheaply by the young pacer, Kwena Maphaka.
After losing the early wicket of Abdullah Shafique, South Africa could smell more early inroads, however, that didn't happen as Saim alongside the ever-reliable, Babar Azam forged a partnership and steadied the sinking Pakistani ship. However, just when Saim Ayub looked in good touch and was setting the groove for a big score, Maphaka came into the attack and dismissed him.
He bowled it short and wide and there was a third man in place as Saim went for the big shot and the outside-edge was taken safely by the fielder. After the wicket, Maphaka gave an angry reaction as he was pumped up after dismissing the Pakistan batter for just 25.
Hope lies on Babar's shoulders as Pakistan aim series win
With Saim Ayub dismissed, Babar Azam's presence is of utmost importance for the Pakistan team. He is looking in good touch and has played some nice shots as Pakistan will eye a big total after being put into bat first.
Captain Mohammad Rizwan has joined Babar as the duo have a tough task in hand. Pakistan won the first ODI, courtesy of a Saim Ayub century and another win will seal the series for the Men in Green, and it could be their second successive series win in SENA countries.
They defeated Australia in the ODIs last month and can achieve the unthinkable by defeating the Proteas.
