Sanju Samson is one of the most popular cricketers in India, and whenever he takes the field, there is a buzz around the Indian cricketing circles. Over the years, there has been lot of talk about his inconsistency despite his talent, but the man has improved in the last few years, and has delivered impact performances on a more consistent basis.

Now, in the Duleep Trophy game between India D and India B, he once again showed his class and scored a brilliant counter-attacking century coming into bat at number 6. He was not in the original squads released for Duleep Trophy, but was added as a replacement and has now grabbed the opportunity with his 11th first-class hundred.

He eventually fell for 106 off 101 balls which included 12 fours and three sixes, and reached his century in 95 balls on Day 2 of the third round of Duleep Trophy. Sanju came out to bat with India D at 175-4 after Shreyas Iyer's dismissal, and displayed positive intent right from the start.

Sanju Samson Provides Reminder Of His Red-Ball Talent

He lost his partner Ricky Bhui too, but found an able partner in the form of Saransh Jain and eventually ended Day 1 with a score of 89. He did not take much time to score a century on Day 2 and with the century he has provided a good reminder to selectors and his critics, that he has the skills for the longer version of the game too where he has been largely ignored over the years.

Also, this century by Sanju Samson will once again reignite the debate of lack of chances given to Kerala batter in Indian colours. He has been part of India team's white-ball setup in the last few years, but has not enjoyed consistent run and was recently failed to grab a place in the ODI side despite century in the series-decider against South Africa in Paarl.
