'We Don't Need Your Advice': Gavaskar 'Blasts' Australia and Pakistan Cricket Experts

Cricket is a sport where everyone has an opinion, which could be good, bad, or ugly.

When it comes to Indian cricket, almost every Indian feels privileged to give their two cents about Team India, which happened after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the men's national World Cup 2023 squad.

Apart from Indians, cricket experts from other playing nations, also give their insights about India's team selection, which has irked former captain Sunil Gavaskar. Speaking on Sports Today, Gavaskar, who is known for his blunt approach, asked Pakistan and Australia experts to not provide advice on the Indian team.

The former Indian batter's response came after former PCB chairman Najam Sethi stated that India are afraid to play Pakistan.

Here's what Gavaskar said

"If you see the statements that come out from their side...sadly our media gives them the prominence. We have Pakistan players, and Australian players selecting Indian team. How is it their concern? Do any Indian players go and select the Australian or the Pakistan team? It's none of our business.

But we allow that. From there it's always Babar is better than Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma; Shaheen Afridi is better than so and so. Inzamam-ul-haq is better than Sachin Tendulkar. For them, they are always better than us. That is the way they have to cater to their audience.

The cricketer-turned-commentator further urged Indian media to not give space to foreign experts.

"Don't give them space in your papers. You have a South Africa saying a player should be in your team. You have an Australian saying. It happens too often. They say who should bat at no. 3 or no. 4. C'mon, we don't need your advice,"

India are currently playing in Asia Cup 2023, and will play Pakistan next on Sunday, September 10 in the Super 4.
