In the recently concluded match between St Kitts & Nevis Patriots and St Lucia Kings, the Andre Fletcher-led side suffered a five-wicket defeat.

The Patriots, batting first, put 201 runs on the board. Evin Lewis scored a century, and he also stitched a 199-run stand with Kyle Mayers for the 2nd wicket. Talking about Mayers, he put on an all-round show. The LSG star scored 92 (62), which featured six fours and seven big sixes.

Kyle Mayers' Show With The Ball

It was not the end of the show for Mayers as he put on his all-rounder's hat and came to bowl the first over of the second innings. The right-arm seamer found the breakthrough in his second over when he clean-bowled Johnson Charles.

The ball nipped back in and rattled the stumps. In the same over, Mayers striked again to leave the Kings crippled. In his quota of four overs, he registered the figures of 2/38.

Mayers Shine In The Field

It was an all-round performance from Kyle as he also hogged the headlines for his fielding. Kyle took two great catches. Firstly, he made an all-important catch of St Lucia Kings' captain Faf du Plessis.

It was a difficult catch as Du Plessis was looking to take clear the field but ended up getting a top edge. The ball just went over the infield and was going away towards the fence. However, Mayers ran back and flew in the literal sense of the term to complete a magnificent catch.

Later, he also broke the crucial partnership between Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Tim Seifert, where he took Seifert's catch to bring back a glimmer of hope for the Patriots.

Mayers' Win Player Of The Match Award

It is worth noting that despite the Patriots ending up on the losing side, Kyle Mayers was rewarded for his all-round display and won the player of the match award.

The Patriots have now lost two straight games despite winning the opening game. They will next face Guyana Amazon Warriors on September 5.
