The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) cruised towards an easy win over Rajasthan Royals in match number six of the IPL 2025 season at Guwahati’s Barsapara Cricket Stadium. The outcome marked the first win for the defending champions this season after their early setback against RCB.
Here’s the timeline of how RR vs KKR panned out in Guwahati:
Moeen Ali, Chakravarthy Derail Rajasthan Royals Top-Order
Rajasthan Royals raced to a sublime powerplay start by accumulating 54 runs from the first six overs at an expense of just senior campaigner Sanju Samson (13 off 11) to Vaibhav Arora. However, the Royals soon lost its plot after the employment of KKR spinners Moeen Ali and Varun Chakravarthy.
While Moeen picked up the huge wickets of a well-set Yashasvi Jaiswal (29 off 24) and number four Nitish Rana to claim sensational figures of 2-23 from four overs, Chakravarthy trapped Riyan Parag and Wanindu Hasaranga to finish with 2-17 from his spell. At the end of the middle-overs burst from the two KKR tweakers, the Royals found itself reeling at 82-5 in 11 overs.
Dhruv Jurel, Archer Lift Royals To A Competitive 151
Dhruv Jurel at number six conjured 33 counterattacking runs for the Rajasthan Royals from 28 deliveries with five elegant boundaries. Jurel’s innings helped Royals regain some momentum during the slog overs, before he got knocked over with a full toss from Harshit Rana.
The speedster also dismissed dangerman Shimron Hetmyer to pick up 2-36, before a sizzling seven-ball cameo of 16 runs from Jofra Archer elevated the Royals to a competitive 151-9 from 20 overs.
KKR Lose Two Big Wickets In Cautious 10-Over Start
Chasing 152 for a win, the Kolkata Knight Riders accrued just 70 runs from the first 10 overs in a seemingly cautious start. After losing opening batter Moeen Ali to a runout for just five in the seventh over of the innings, Quinton de Kock formed 29 runs with number three batter and captain Ajinkya Rahane for the second wicket.
At the start of the 11th over, Rahane also got his momentum abrupted at just 15-ball 18, albeit from Rajasthan Royals’ Sri Lankan spin import Wanindu Hasaranga.
Quinton De Kock Blazes KKR To Easy Win With Empowering 97*
KKR opener Quinton de Kock, who start off cautiously, exploded in the backend of the run-chase and finished with an astonishing 97* from just 61 balls. The vintage South African wicketkeeper-batter bludgeoned eight boundaries and six towering sixes as he shared a swift 83-run partnership with number four Angkrish Raghuvanshi (22* off 17) from just 44 balls.
Quinton’s burgeoning act helped KKR soar past Delhi Capitals’ 151 with eight wickets and with 15 balls to spare as the defending champions recorded their first win of the IPL 2025 season after their early setback to RCB.
