The inevitable happened as Ajinkya Rahane and KKR handed over the debut cap to West Indian all-rounder, Rovman Powell. After waiting for almost 8 matches, the former T20I captain of the Windies replaced English player, Moeen Ali as the Eden Gardens surface had something for the pacers.

In the playing XI currently, there are three West Indians - Powell, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. However, in this piece, we will list out all the players from the West Indies who have represented KKR in IPL.

Out of all the players mentioned, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell have been the two most successful West Indian stars who have played for KKR. The duo have been playing for 13 and 11 years each and have helped KKR win multiple titles.

The other West Indian stars have had unsuccessful stints with the the hope that Powell could break that jinx.

Why KKR brought in Powell?

Powell is an exceptionally good hitter of the ball and is known for his ability to clear the fence with utmost ease. For West Indies, he plays as a finisher and KKR will hope that the talented batter can fulfil the same role.

Also, if needed, he can chip in with a couple of overs which is needful since KKR bowling is struggling at the moment.

PBKS dominating KKR

Shreyas Iyer opted to bat first and the decision paid off as the openers, Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya went berserk. Priyansh, in particular was at his best as the southpaw slammed a 69 off 35 as the openers added 120 runs for the opening wicket.
