Indian captain Rohit Sharma claimed a huge unwanted record in his milestone T20I match against Afghanistan. Turning up for his side for the 150th time in the format, the dashing opening batsman failed to add a run to his name as he was castled by Afghanistan's new-ball speedster Fazalhaq Farooqi off the very first ball of his innings.

Despite his failure with the bat, Team India ended up ravaging their guests by six wickets at Indore’s Holkar Stadium to go 2-0 up in the three-match T20I series.

Rohit Sharma, who made his T20I debut back in 2007, became the first player in men's history to receive his 150th cap when he took the field against Afghanistan at Indore in January 2024. Unfortunately for the cricketer, he was dismissed without scoring a run to his name to register his second T20I duck in succession and the 12th of his illustrious 20-overs international career.

Sharma now records the second joint-highest T20I ducks alongside Rwanda's Kevin Irakoze and Ireland's Kevin O'Brien. With 12 ducks to his name, the dashing Indian opening batsman is only trailing behind Ireland's firebrand batter Paul Stirling (13 ducks) on the undesirable list.

The current Indian captain also holds several remarkable and noteworthy records in his T20I profile. While he finds his name among the general shelf of players with the most ducks, the cricketer has also tallied the second-highest number of T20I runs and the highest number of sixes (182) in the format's rich history.

Earlier this week, i.e., through the series opener against Afghanistan, Rohit Sharma made his comeback to T20Is after a gap of 14 months. The legendary opener previously represented India in the format during the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.

Currently, he is lining himself up for this year's 2024 T20 World Cup, set to be hosted in June by the West Indies and the United States.
