Out-of-favour Indian batsman Kedar Jadhav scored a scintillating 182 against Jharkhand at Pune’s MCA Stadium in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024 season. His innings helped Maharashtra extend their lead over Jharkhand by more than 100 runs, and he shared a 249-run fourth-wicket partnership with fellow centurion Ankit Bawne.

Kedar Jadhav’s 182 help Maharashtra take command

Kedar Jadhav, batting at number four for Maharashtra, arrived at the crease in the 50th over of the innings following the dismissal of number three Naushad Shaikh at 176-2. The Maharashtra captain subsequently added 113 runs with opening batsman Pavan Shah, before forming a 249-run alliance with Ankit Bawne.

Jadhav eventually missed out on a well-deserved double century, as he was dismissed by Virat Singh at 182 from 216 balls. His hurricane batting effort featured 21 boundaries and five sixes, taking his side to 538 by the time of his dismissal in the 129th over of the innings.

Kedar Jadhav also scored a sizzling 56 against Manipur in Maharashtra’s opening match of the 2024 Ranji Trophy season earlier in January. His innings and astute leadership skills, coupled with Ankit Bawne’s 153 helped Maharashtra seal an innings win over Manipur to register their opening Group A points of the tournament.

Despite his prolific run in India’s domestic competitions, Kedar Jadhav continues to get sidelined from international cricket by the selection committee. The cricketer played his last international match for Team India back in February 2020 against New Zealand in Auckland.

So far in his white-ball career for India, Jadhav has played 73 ODIs and nine T20I matches.
