Hardik Pandya-led Mumbai Indians got off the mark in the IPL 2024, securing their first win of the season by defeating Delhi Capitals in a high-scoring face-off on home soil. 

Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted a mammoth 235-run total, riding on Tim David's valuable knock and a blistering 10-ball 39* from West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd. 

Chasing the daunting target, the Capitals fell short by 30 runs despite a breathtaking innings from Tristan Stubbs. 

Meanwhile, Indian captain Rohit Sharma played a vital role in MI's emphatic victory, contributing significantly as a batter and fielder. 

Opening the batting alongside Ishan Kishan, Rohit struck a breezy knock to lead the foundation for a solid total for his side. 

As soon as MI emerged victorious in the clash, the talismanic batter became the first-ever Indian to be a part of 250 wins in T20 cricket. 

Rohit, who took Jhye Richardson's catch to hand Gerald Coetzee his fourth wicket, also completed 100 catches in the tournament. 

With his fiery knock, Rohit also breached the 1000-run mark against Delhi Capitals. Also, his three massive sixes helped him record the most number of maximums against a single opposition in the lucrative league. 

Regarding Mumbai Indians, they moved two places up to claim the eighth position in the IPL standings with this win. They will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their fifth group-stage match at home on April 11.
