In a massive development, it has been reported that Sanju Samson's trade from Rajasthan Royals to Chennai Super Kings is still a definite possibility, with the latter putting one of their core players as a trade-worthy option. Earlier, it was reported that Samson, despite wanting to leave RR, might not join a new team, as the Royals apparently failed to crack a suitable deal with the Super Kings. However, Samson's IPL trade speculations have intensified once again, with CSK willing to exchange one of their key players with RR to secure the wicketkeeper.
RR, CSK in talks as Samson's IPL trade takes new twist
As reported by Cricbuzz, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals have resumed discussions regarding Sanju Samson's potential IPL trade. In fact, the Super Kings have actually put one of their top players on the trade table, asking him if he would be comfortable joining the Rajasthan Royals for the next season.
The report claims that a final decision on the matter will only be taken around November 10 or 11, when CSK supremo MS Dhoni is scheduled to have a meeting with CEO Kasi Viswanathan, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and head coach Stephen Fleming to finalise the retentions and prepare a roadmap for the upcoming mini auction.
Talking about Sanju Samson, the Kerala batter's inclusion will empower CSK with a destructive top-order player as well as a shrewd tactician to lead them in the post-Dhoni era. In 177 IPL matches, Samson has scored 4704 runs at an average of 30.95 and a strike rate of 139.05.

The report also revealed that CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has dismissed MS Dhoni's retirement rumours, confirming his participation in the IPL 2026.
"MS has told us that he will be available for the next season," Viswanathan was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
Dhoni has been the face of CSK since joining them in the inaugural season. Besides leading the Super Kings to five IPL titles, the legendary cricketer has hammered 4865 runs for the franchise across 16 seasons.
